Tattoo Aftercare

Moisturiser method

Congratulations on your new tattoo!!

I will wrap your tattoo for you to keep it safe while you travel home. Leave it on until the evening or , next day in the morning (recommended). You may feel a little sore and swollen for a few days. This is completely normal. Just make sure you take it easy and avoid any strenuous activities for a while.

X Do not use a bath towel as they harbour bacteria

X Do not touch your tattoo without washing hands first

X Do not let other people touch your tattoo

X Do not use any cream at this point

X Do not let animals come near your tattoo

Recommended cream:  Dr Palmers cocoa butter solid formula (available at boots) or Organic coconut oil

Moisturising cream method

In the morning remove the the cling film and blue pad.

1. In the shower, let Hot water run over your tattoo and gently wipe away any ink or blood residue. You might see bits of ink coming out - this is completely normal. Clean the tattoo until it stops feeling slimy.

  • You can also use paper towels, dampen them with warm water and gently rub away any tattoo residue. Or you can use baby wipes - non-fragrance or non-alcohol type

2. Let the tattoo air dry or tap it dry with paper towels (do not use your regular towel, not sterile enough)

3. Let your skin Breathe for a bit

4. Apply light layer of cream, don’t put loads on, it’ll suffocate the skin.

Repeat ‘ Clean - let it dry out and breath - reapply cream - repeat 3-4 times per day, until the tattoo is healed

After 2 weeks of doing these steps above, the tattoo begins to feel tight/dry and starts to flake off like sun burn . You can then move onto a daily moisturiser - I recommend Aveeno daily moisturising lotion

X Do not do any exercise for a week after your tattoo

X Do not doing anything to cause excessive sweating

X Do not pick at scabs or flakes as it will pull the ink out

Recommended cream:  Dr Palmers cocoa butter solid formula (available at boots) or Organic coconut oil.
